Hybrid Existence: Eastern and Western Living

[ABSTRACT ONLY; NO FULL TEXT] Hybrid Existence: Eastern and Western Living comprises of poetry and provides a going inward critical introduction. The poetry collection comprises in three sections: the inner self process, items to be grateful for, and contribution through purpose. "If Self-Compassion, then the Path" is the first section and depicts the inner workings of the speakers' experiences. "If" followed by "then" sheds light on the inner processes of a beginning and the effect that comes with it. This start helps prepare the reader to be in a mindful state. "At Present Moment of Gratitude, Namaste" is the second section and elaborates on the speaker's appreciation of the blessings within her life. The word "namaste" is a yoga term and recognizes the divine in individuals whom share common ground. This section takes a moment to pause and show appreciation. "Communication Butterfly: How Small Shifts Hold Sacred Spaces to Transform" is the last section and describes a need for a sense of purpose and contributing to the world. The speaker posits that giving back to the world is an integral step to human actualization. A "pay if forward" element ends the compilation and stresses the importance of holding humanity accountable. The combination of this hybridity completes the collection with 21 poems seamlessly flowing with an economic and minimalist style. The pieces are personal to speaker, simultaneously inward and outward; the speaker's hold concepts of the soul in-one-breath. There is a stillness that is carried throughout the lines and within the pages.
