Visioning of an Generalized Paper Prototyping Framework

New technology has emerged to allow early prototyping in design. For instance, interface designers, whom lack experience in content generation and programming, can use “drag-and-drop” approaches to construct and test prototype concepts. This paper proposes system design of ProtoStage, a prototyping tool for designers of interactive media. ProtoStage aims for simplicity by providing a paper prototyping environment for designers and nonprofessionals, whom want to design the clarity of models and interactivity of their prototypes. ProtoStage introduces an inter-disciplinary prototyping workflow for interactive media based on the Triad Framework (web, digital games, and motion graphics). Additionally, its technology is showcased by presenting the implementation of ProtoStage’s WYSIWG canvas editor.
